Summary

Act Two Scene One takes place three days after the events of Act One at night. Fred says goodnight to Garry and leaves, meaning Garry is alone in the apartment. The phone rings. Garry answers it and talks to Liz. He tells her that he went to the theater with Morris and Joanna and is confident there’s nothing going on between them. The doorbell rings and Joanne, Henry’s wife, enters. She tells Garry that she has lost her latchkey and is unable to get into her house. Garry asks, imitating the earlier words of Daphne, if the servants sleep at the top of the house and were therefore unable to hear her trying to get in, and Joanna replies that that’s the case.
