Summary
That night, a drunk Skinner watches an execution on his laptop. He thinks about Zou Lei, but his love toward her shifts to annoyance. The author describes Skinner as someone who was acting without thinking as he is completely detached from the world. He continues to take his medicine, but struggles with nightmares from war. He considers suicide, but talks himself out of it.
After not hearing from Skinner for four days, Zou Lei begins to feel lonely and her work suffers. She tries to work some of her older jobs so she can forget how much she misses him. However, Skinner suddenly returns to her life and Zou Lei is happy he is back.
