Coincidence, Interconnectedness, and a Divine Plan
Moore's novel is rife with coincidence. As the inhabitants of a small town, all of the characters' lives are intertwined in many different ways. Amanda and Effrom are related to their granddaughter Jenny and her husband Robert. Robert is staying in The Breeze's trailer because Jenny threw him out, and this fact connects him to Rivera, who wants to arrest The Breeze. Rachel and Jenny are in a coven together, and Jenny works for Howard Phillips. They all hang out at Mavis's bar. They all shop at Augustus Brine's general store. The connections, large and small, stretch out throughout the novel.
