Pine Cove is in a bad mood. The whole town is suffering from lack of sleep, and everyone is irritable. Mavis has been telling the story of the town's pool shark's losing game all day. She enjoys telling stories and even records herself with a small tape recorder, but tonight she is as irritated as her customers.

Augustus Brine is irritably trying to figure out how to track down the demon. Robert is miserable because Jenny has not called him and The Breeze's utilities get cut off.
