The local Pine Cove mechanic tries to convince Travis his whole engine might be shot, hoping to milk as much money from the stranger as possible. Travis insists all he wants is for the radiator to be replaced, and they agree on a price of a hundred dollars. The mechanic directs Travis to the Head of the Slug bar for pool and to H.P.'s Cafe for breakfast. On his way out of the garage, Travis sees Robert spray-washing The Breeze's dishes at the car wash.
Robert's wife Jenny is at work as a waitress at H.P.'s Cafe. Everyone has heard she kicked out Robert, and she is tired of dealing with their sympathy. When she drops her second tray of glasses, the owner, Howard Phillips...
