Part 3, Chapter 1 Summary
The priest wakes in the morning at the home of a German brother and sister, the Lehrs. The priest has been there for three days recovering from his journey. The priest hopes to get to the town of Las Casa where he will be safe. The town still has churches and even universities. The Lehrs tell him that it will take four to six days for him to walk there. As they are talking the Lehrs tell the priest that they are Lutheran. They don't approve of all the luxury of the Catholic Church. At first the priest is a little shocked, as he has lived anything but a luxurious life in the past few years.
