Summary
This section of the novel begins with Ponyboy and Baby moving to Berlin after Ponyboy finishes their schooling in Paris. In Berlin, the two of them focus on their artistic pursuits and work alongside one another. Ponyboy looks for jobs, supported by their father’s monthly checks. One night, they call Toni and ask them if they would come to Berlin to visit, but they “explain with a patronizing sigh” that they need to stay in Providence to finish their degree (71).
