Summary

Despite being so tough, Xiomara knows that in tenth grade she will continue to struggle with the social dynamics of the school, including sexual harassment from the boys at her school. She just wants to hide away but she is unable to. Xiomara hates being the center of attention. Xiomara wishes she were the daughter of a Dominican Medusa so that she could learn the secret of stopping men with a look.

On the first Saturday after school begins, Xiomara, Caridad, and Xavier go to watch some older boys playing basketball. Xiomara notices that Caridad is paying attention to the game, but Xiomara and her brother are looking at the bodies of the players with interest.
