Ethan Burke
Ethan Burke is the thirty-seven year old main character and principal protagonist of the novel Pines by Blake Crouch. An Iraq War veteran, Ethan is now a Secret Service agent who has come to Wayward Pines, Idaho, to investigate the disappearance of two other agents. Ethan has a wife named Theresa, and a son named Ben. Ethan wakes up alongside a river outside of the town, with temporary amnesia which the local medical staff at the hospital explains was suffered in the car accident he was involved in a short time before. Ethan begins his investigation, though the sheriff and the people of town seem to oppose him every step of the way.
Ethan ultimately discovers that Wayward Pines is in fact the last town and piece of civilization on Earth. He has been asleep for nearly 1,500 years, kept in a state of suspended animation by Pilcher...
