Chapter 16: Away from the Track Summary and Analysis
They lock Slim up at a local jail. Chris goes to visit him and asks him where all of his things have gone. Initially, he thinks Sweet or Poison have burgularized his home, but then he remembers he saw a person from his apartment complex getting booked by the policemen. He knows that man has stolen all of his things.
Slim posts his bond of $40,000 and then hires the state's best attorney. He gets out on bail for four months, during which time he works as hard as he can to make money, but few whores want to be associated with him since they know he will be leaving for jail soon. He does not talk to Sweet very much since Poison is now the biggest pimp in the area.
