Housing Estates

Large portions of the narrative are set at the housing estates where Harri and his family live. The estates are located in an indeterminate urban neighborhood in England. They are comprised of three towering buildings named Luxembourg House, Stockholm House, and Copenhagen House. Harri lives in an apartment on the ninth floor of Copenhagen house with his mother, father, grandmother, and two sisters Lydia and Agnes.

When they first move in, Harri is delighted by the building and the surrounding neighborhood. He is curious about his neighbors and all of their peculiar habits. To him, the cages around each of the neighborhood trees is as strange as the news that a young boy has been murdered outside of a fast food restaurant.
