Importance: This quote is included both in the Prologue as well as in Epilogue. The “she” in the quote is Laura Oliver aka Jane Queller. She indicates in the Prologue that she believes she is the one who ignited the spark of rage but does not indicate how she did it. At the end of the novel, the reader learns that it was Jane who put the gun in the paper bag meant for Laura instead of the dye packs.
