Andrea Eloise “Andy” Oliver

Andrea Eloise “Andy” Oliver is the main character of the novel. Andy is a character who undergoes a metamorphosis from an uncertain young woman lacking in self-confidence and purpose to one who helps to save both herself and her mother from people in her mother’s past who want to hurt her.

Andy starts her journey as a young woman who has returned home from New York to take care of her mother while she undergoes treatment for breast cancer. Andy’s life and career in New York was not happy though she never told her mother. Andy was relieved to get to come home. Since her mother recovered from breast cancer Andy sleeps during the day and works nights as a police dispatcher. Laura is encouraging Andy to take charge of her life when Helsinger opens fire in the restaurant where they are eating...
