Section 5: Fifth Picture and Chapter 5 Summary
In Fifth Picture, The Old Man, Hollis thinks she is alone as she sits on the bottom step in front of the house, trying to capture what the Old Man looks like so she can take it back with her and remember. The screen door opens, and the Old Man asks where she learned to do that as he looks over her shoulder. He tells her it is a gift to draw things the way they are and she shines through her drawings; no one has ever said anything like that to Hollis before. She looks at him and tells him Hollis Woods is a real place where they found her when she was only an hour old without a blanket, on a corner with a scrap of paper that said "Call her Hollis Woods...
