Summary
In "Piccolos under Your Name, Strings under Mine," the crew begins filming the battle scenes a day and a half ahead of schedule. Schary remains encouraging, thankful Huston and Reinhardt are staying within the requested time and budget parameters. Huston works to focus the shots on the Youth instead of the North versus South conflict.
The team works to convey the nuances of war through the soldiers' behaviors. A few days later, Booth visits the location. She does not like the close-up shots, suggesting a series of severe cuts. She believes filmmaking has little to do with art, criticizing Huston's techniques. Reinhardt says he respects all of Booth's opinions. Reinhardt and Band also discuss Mayer's opinions of Huston. Everyone agrees they will not know if the picture is good until Mayer gives the word.
