Cassie Barrett is an anthropologist who has been sent to prepare for an excavation in Tanzania. At the same time, Alex Rivers is in the area filming a movie. Cassie is hired to be the technical advisor for the movie, since she has expertise about discovering ancient bones and artifacts. She meets the star of the movie and she and Alex Rivers fall in love as they work together. They get married on the movie set in Tanzania before returning to his home in Los Angeles. Cassie travels to this area yearly for her work, living simply in tents with the barest necessities. Alex Rivers lavishly provides luxury all around himself, including champagne, chilled shrimp, and candlelight, even in these sparse, hot surroundings.
