Chapters Eleven and Twelve Summary
Instead of firing her, Alex laughs at the juice in his lap. Alex asks her to dig something up so he can watch her, to observe her movements. She learns that Alex makes it his business to be friendly and personal with his co-workers because it gets better results. Cassie watches Alex acting just like he had seen her act when she demonstrated a dig for him.
Alex invites her to an elaborately presented meal in his tent, and she makes it clear to him she does not like that he stole her emotions, that it made her feel used.
