Chapter Four Summary

Jane is now clearly identified as Cassie Rivers. Back in their extravagant Malibu apartment, Cassie is still seeing Alex as a movie star. She still stiffens at his touch and can only see him through memories of him in the media. Herb, apparently a friend, wants to see her. Alex is on the phone with him while Cassie looks at the apartment, seeing photos of herself.

Her Silver is a Brooklyn Jew who is obviously fond of Cassie. As Herb and Alex talk, Cassie tries to find things and familiarize herself with the apartment. Herb wants to milk the media coverage about Cassie to help Alex win an Oscar for his movie, Taboo, which exposes Alex's temper. He pulls Cassie to his lap, but she is shaking and uncomfortable.
