Summary

In Chapter 14, just like the terrier she is named after Mila sets to work putting together a flow chart describing what might have happened to Matthew. She’s made a list of what might have happened to him if he is dead, and why he might have left home if he is still alive. Mila realizes because of her age, she is limited on the knowledge that she has of the world and the way it works. She wishes she had a middle aged person to help her out. For instance, she doesn’t understand why her parents have never gotten married. She doesn’t understand why Matthew didn’t get married until he was 42. She tries to talk to Gil about thinking methodically about Matthew’s disappearance instead of just letting his thoughts bounce around hoping they’ll fall into the right...
