James Crocker (Jimmy)
Twenty-one-year-old Jimmy Crocker moves to London with his father and his wealthy stepmother. With the new-found wealth he has found himself in thanks to his father’s marriage, he decides to adopt a different lifestyle from his previous one, shunning any kind of work and partying as much as possible. He gains the attention of the British newspapers due to his affluence. His old position as a writer at the New York newspaper, the Chronicle, has caused his old colleagues to satirize his behavior in London. Jimmy does not understand why people think he is a news story. He becomes ashamed of his behavior after it affects his father and when he hears Ann’s opinion of him.
