Why does Muller think that it is important for a president to understand science? How much does he think they need to know themselves, and how much can they leave to the experts?

This question asks students to take a look at the breadth and depth of information presented in this book, and also to think critically about how much of the author’s own opinion is inserted into what is deemed worthy of coverage.

How much does Muller suggest that the solutions to the problems he presents in his book should be solved by individual action versus collective or government action?

On issues of national security, Muller places most responsibility with the federal government. On issues of environmentalism, Muller places some responsibility on governments, but a lot more on individuals and businesses to make and sell high-efficiency products.
