Summary
In Chapter 24, “The Fruit on the Ground,” contains six subsections. In each one, Muller describes methods of combating climate change that he thinks are already well within reach but not being properly taken advantage of.
“Comfortable Conservation,” defines conservation not as individuals cutting back on energy usages, but as efficiency being increased so that the same amount of work can be accomplished with less fuel. Muller does not advise people to turn down their thermostats and refrigerators a few degrees, but to buy more efficient ones. Refrigerators were made significantly more efficient by putting more copper in their coils, which makes them a bit more expensive, but saves a lot of money on energy bills in the long run.
