Part Two: Phantoms; Chapters 36-40, Summary
Ringing church bells announce the arrival of Timothy Flyte in Snowfield. Hammond tells Flyte about what has been going on in town and the professor is amazed. Flyte tells the survivors that the creature they are dealing with might be a survivor of the Mesozoic Era, feeding periodically off of large villages throughout history, which is Flyte's theory about why there have been such occurrences throughout time. Flyte claims that the Ancient Enemy might even be responsible for the disappearance of dinosaurs.
The creatures arrives, emerging from the vents on the wall. Tentacles form and reach out, grabbing Frank Autry around the waist and throat. Frank's skin seems to melt and his head is severed. Though horrified, Flyte comments that he wishes to study the creature and a disembodied voice emanates from the creature, directing...
