Bryce leads the group onto the street. As they progress, the moth swoops out of the air and latches onto Stu Wargle's face. Bryce advances and tries to help, but Wargle staggers around the street. The moth finally lets go and takes off as Stu crumples to the ground. Tal shoots at the insect, which flutters for a moment and then resumes flight. Bryce looks at Wargle and sees that his face is gone.

In chapter seventeen, the group gathers in the Hilltop Inn. Tal wonders why the insect did not die when he shot it. Lisa calmly states that guns will not save them. The young...
