Summary
In Chapter 12, Hibiscus is furious and prepares to leave, but Redemption stands in his way. Hibiscus grabs Redemption's neck. Jam tries to intervene, but Hibiscus twists her arm. Pet appears and grabs Hibiscus, throwing him against the wall. Jam is sure Hibiscus is about to kill Pet but she intervenes. Pet says that humans are not willing to see people like Hibiscus, and that he has to “finish” this “job.” Redemption urges Jam not to interfere and is angry that Jam seems to be defending the man who hurt Moss. Jam counters, saying that people will never learn how to find monsters like this or how to stop them unless they see them. She wants to bring Hibiscus's to face public charges to raise that awareness. She says people are “pretending all the monsters are gone” (184) and will not “remember to look...
