Summary
In Chapter 4, Bitter takes Jam to bed, tucking her in before going back to her own room where Pet is waiting. Jam thinks about Redemption, her best friend, and worries about the danger that is apparently in his house. Jam feels that Redemption can take care of himself. He is a fighter, trained by his uncle Hibiscus. Redemption has explained to Jam that he loves the beauty of contesting himself against another fighter. Hibiscus was among the revolutionaries who changed Lucille, but he declined to take an active role in the leadership afterward. Hibiscus is married to a woman named Glass, who is Redemption's mother's sister.
As Jam lies in bed, she can feel the conversation taking place between her parents and Pet. Later, Pet fades away to the studio. The next morning, Jam takes her time going downstairs. Aloe has made breakfast...
