Chapter 30 Summary

When Kate and her dad get home from work, her mom says someone is interested in buying the house. Kate realizes that her mom is nervous. Saturday morning, Kate takes the trash out and the bags break. She leaves a note for her mom asking her to pick her up from the mall at 5. Kate's mom calls the booth and whatever she says visibly affects her father. Kate calls home to remind her mother to pick her up at 5, but Grandma answers the phone, saying her mother's in the car honking at it and says they'll see about picking her up. Kate finds her grandmother there to pick her up instead of her mom. When Kate mentions telling her mom about going out, Grandma says she needs some rest and she'll tell her for Kate later. When they arrive home, Kate gets ready...
