Chapter 9 Summary

Kate notices that her parents are watching TV but not talking to each other. When she goes upstairs, she finds Todd dying his hair. He asks about dad's party and she tells him that one of the mothers of a girl she goes to school with was there. He asks how bad it was for her at school. Then, Kate tells Todd Grandma is coming.

The next morning, Kate wakes Todd to take her to school. He drives so slow she's late. While she's in the office getting a tardy slip, Anna comes in. when Anna notices Kate, she freezes but doesn't say or do anything. Later, in the hall, Anna acts if she doesn't see Kate at all.
