Chapter 1 Summary
Kate is helping her father at their booth at the mall. Her father was working at a software company, when he went into work to find his desk broken into one day. Everything on the desk was broken, except for a bottle of "Perfect You" vitamins that he bought from a departing employee. Kate's father took this as a sign that he should be selling the vitamins and opened a booth at the mall. When Kate returns home with her father after selling two bottles of vitamins the entire day, she finds her mother frowning at the checkbook, and her wannabe actor and college-educated brother watching basketball.
