Lin and Isaac struggle to maintain their relationship despite frequent periods of separation as she works on her sculpture of the dreamshit drug dealer, Mr. Motley. Isaac talks of crisis energy and Lin says little for fear that her employer might have ESP. When she finishes work each day, Lin often stops in Kinken, a slightly more upscale Khepri neighborhood than Creekside where she spent her earliest years. She delights in the Khepri energy in Kinken but feels grateful she was finally able to leave it, once she learned sign language. Meanwhile, Isaac is on the verge of a major scientific breakthrough using his water crisis energy to power wings of flight for the garuda Yagharek. When Yagharek visits one day, he asks Isaac why he doesn't use Torque energy to power his flight. Isaac responds by...
