Summary
Rachel, Percy’s human friend, invited him to their vacation house in St. Thomas. He was tempted to go, but he was “on call for a mission. Also, he was going to turn sixteen the next week. According to prophecy, bad things would happen. He told Rachel he really wanted to go with her, but he could not. Even though Rachel was a mortal, she could see through the Mist. She knew the war with Kronos was on the horizon. Rachel blurted out that she wanted to talk to Percy but then clammed up. Spending a lot of time with Rachel that summer had been a good break from the goings on at the camp.
