Point of View
The narrative is written from the first-person perspective of the narrative’s protagonist, Poppy. This is fitting as it is her story. While there is a lot going on in the narrative, People We Meet on Vacation is really about Poppy’s journey of growth as she is moving from the mentality of her teenage self and the view of the world she had in high school to defining what is right and not right for her life as an adult. The first-person perspective is especially well-done as it gets into Poppy’s head as she deals with her discoveries about what it takes to be a mature adult and the tribulations that occur throughout the narrative.
