Sanibel Island
The narrative opens when Poppy is on vacation with Alex on Sanibel Island. The weather is not good, but Alex still wants to remember the experience. This is also where Poppy realizes that she loves Alex.
Linfield
Both Alex and Poppy are from Linfield. They grew up on different sides the town and have a different relationship with it. Alex still lives there, whereas Poppy runs away from it. Poppy shows her growth when she returns to Linfield to tell Alex that she loves him.
New York City
Poppy lives and works in New York City. Her best friend, Rachel, also lives there. At the end of the narrative, Alex finds a job in New York City, and Poppy lives with him there.
