Poppy Wright

Poppy is the narrative's protagonist. Her parents live in Linfield. Her best friend is Rachel. Swapna is her boss at the magazine. Alex is a friend from college with whom she falls in love.

Poppy is a successful and mature woman from the perspective of her career. She has always known that she wanted to travel, and she makes a successful career out of traveling.

However, she is emotionally immature. She wants to travel because she is running away from home. She is eccentric in her behavior and dress. She still bears the scars from being bullied in high school. This makes her feel that she is unlovable by people other than her family. She likes to travel to meet people that she will probably never see again and to adopt new identities. She does not think that Alex can love her, so she goes on vacations...
