Summary

In Chapter 16, "This Summer," Poppy leaves Alex to go to the pharmacy and get breakfast. She returns to an apologetic Alex. She bought both of their favorite foods. They try a bit of each other’s meal. Alex insists that Poppy leave and enjoy herself. She leaves, but she does not enjoy herself. Rachel calls while she is out. After hearing that Poppy is not having a good vacation, she tells Poppy that she can pretend to that she has to return to New York because Rachel has an emergency. Poppy says that she will stay. When she thinks that she has been away for the appropriate amount of time, Poppy returns. Then, Alex leaves the room and tells Poppy that she can look for a movie to watch on his computer.
