Summary

In Chapter 11, "This Summer," Poppy and Alex go to the pool. Poppy notices Alex’s muscles. She compares his body to hers. They talk about an animated girl on Instagram that everybody loves. Poppy puts sun cream on Alex’s back and asks him about Sarah, who teaches at his school, to distract her attention from him. Sarah still teaches at his school, but they have broken up. He says that this does not bother him, and he does not see her often. They get in the pool, but do not stay in it for a long time because it is crowded. They spend their remaining time by the pool reading.

The apartment is even hotter when they return. Poppy calls the person who rented it to them. He confirms what Alex said. She has pushed too hard to lower the temperature. He...
