Rosemary Vines approaches Jim Chee and asks him to locate a box that was stolen out of her husband's study. The box is said to contain old mementos and Chee later learns it contains mementos from a life of a man who is thought to have died in an explosion.
Oil Well
Twelve people are rumored killed in an oil rig explosion when the workers are thought to have accidentally set off some nitroglycerin while attempting to lower it into a hole while searching for oil. Eventually police learn that only six people were killed that day.

Vines gives Chee a check for two hundred dollars for his time after telling him he does not want him to find his box as Rosemary Vines had asked Chee to do. Chee later uses this check to leave a note for Wolf, hoping Wolf...
