Chapters 17-23 Summary

In chapter 17, Chee has trouble sleeping. Chee sneaks out of his hospital room and goes down to the morgue to see how easy it would be to break into it in the middle of the night. Chee discovers there are several easy ways to get into the room and steal a body. In chapter 18, Wolf arrives at the hospital and makes his way up to Chee's floor. A nurse approaches as Wolf enters the floor, so he distracts her with a lie in order to get close enough to shoot her in the head with a gun equipped with a silencer. In chapter 19, Chee spots the killer speaking to the nurse. Chee knows he cannot leave the room without being seen, so he slips an acoustic tile off the ceiling and hides in the crawl space.
