Chapter 3 Summary
Penny goes to Falucci's Market, where Uncle Ralphie greets her warmly from behind the counter. He introduces her as his niece to Mrs. Chickalos and then continues to fill her order. Penny can see that she is expecting. Uncle Ralphie lets her go without paying to Aunt Fulvia's dismay, and baby Gloria sleeps in the carriage next to her throughout her chastising him. Next, Jack Teitelzweig comes in to pick up an order for his mother and he no sooner says hi to Penny when Frankie also arrives. Frankie is late, but uses his two-month-old baby brother as an excuse.
Uncle Ralphie goes over the deliveries with them and they crack jokes about the third bag containing brains and to be delivered to Mrs. Morelli. Aunt Fulvia makes sure to remind them to collect as well, and they hop on Frankie's bike. They...
