Summary

In “Shortcut,” Peak, Zopa, and Yogi and Yash started their trip to ABC. Sun-jo joined, too, as he had stayed on the mountain by hiding in the Sherpas’ loads between camps. When they reunited, Peak tried letting go of his frustrations. Zopa’s route was shorter, but was more difficult. They had to scale ice walls, which Peak struggled to get over. Once they succeeded, the boys both started crying. While resting afterwards, they listened to the radio and “looked at the map” (204). They would summit “in less than a week” (204).

In “Camp 3 ½,” Zopa pushed the boys hard over the following days (205). Sun-Jo began to worry that he would not finish the climb. Then one day, Zopa fell ill. Peak did not know if he and Sun-jo would be able to finish without him. Zopa explained that they would have to summit...
