Summary

Otto and Xavier arrive in the back carriage. The narrative skips to Yuri having tied up Otto, Xavier, Laura, and Allegra and put them against the wall. He beats Otto and Xavier, punishing them for abandoning Honza and Tolay for each other. Otto realizes that Yuri was the mongoose-catcher who scared Chela. The narrative then skips back to the moment when Otto and Xavier entered the train, at which point Yuri pops the white balloon he is carrying, leading mysteriously to the four being tied on the ground. Yuri tells them that he brought them to the train together, as he is also ‘unseen’ like Přemsyl. He reiterates that Přemsyl just wanted to be ‘seen’ by Ava. Yuri wants Ava to come into the carriage, so he sends out Chela and Árpád to get her.
