Summary
Xavier and Otto discuss what they have read in the file Ava left for them, concluding that Allegra and Zeinab were disturbed by Přemsyl’s interest in Ava and disapproved of his negative impact on Karel. They look out the window to see a mile-long billboard with the text “LOLOL…” repeating along the length of the billboard. The train stops to let on a number of merchants who set up a bazaar in a train car.
Ava arrives at Xavier and Otto’s car, the Clock Carriage, and gives them short letters from Raúl, Honza, and Tolay, which are written in identical handwriting and sent from the Agency for Introducing a Sense of Proportion Into Novel Writing. Allegra and Laura arrive, and Otto throws the letters from Raúl, Honza, and Tolay out of the train window.
