Summary

Chapter 20 is titled “Now That's What You Call an Apple Corps.” The next challenge takes place at the Honeycake Orchards at twilight. The Grimoire opens and words appear. Emmy is struck again by the bad poetry of the challenge, including: “When monsters made of magic threaten to take their toll/You must shew the strength you bear, by striking swift and bold!” (199). Emmy suspects Elias Harlow was responsible for it. The magic from the Grimoire moves Gareth to the apple orchard, Talia to the pumpkin patch, and Rowan to the sunflower field. This means they are not directly competing which will make it difficult for Talia to help Rowan win. Talia is quickly facing a pumpkin monster that bends down to howl at her.
