Summary
In “Not an Answer to the Question,” the next morning, Jay tries to ask Maria, the housekeeper and cook, about the letters but she does not speak any English. Jay realizes that she would not have taken letters written in a language she does not even speak. He wonders if Maning made Maria search his things, that maybe Maria gave the letters to Maning.
Jay finds Maning’s office and is in the process of searching for the letters when Angel walks in on him. She sees what he is doing and shows him where the key that will open the locked drawer on her father’s desk is located. In this bottom of this drawer, under all the upright folders, there is a piece of paper folded in half. The paper contains a list of names and addresses with Jun’s name...
