Summary

Chapter 13 opens with a to-do list item that reads “Run forever (and then run some more).” Patina thought she was prepared for a brutal track practice but discovers she is not. Ghost immediately feels something is off with Patina and asks if she is alright. Patina assures him that she is fine; but, her mind is filled with all the things Emily does for them. She is wondering how those things will get done now. The list includes taking Patina and Maddy to and from school and taking Bev for her appointments. Patina realizes it is impossible to act as if there is nothing wrong. She is surprised because she has known Ghost and Sunny only a few weeks, since joining this team, but “they could already tell when something was going on with me.” She is about to tell them what happened...
