Summary

The next day, when the protagonist goes to dispose of his and Janet’s waste, he finds a note on the door of Marty’s trailer. It says that he has been fired despite “fifteen years of loyal service” (50). Marty. Jeannine, and Marty’s son Eddie exit the trailer with packed bags. They are all rather upset, but they try to be positive. Eddie says that he does not mind returning to his old school, despite having been mercilessly bullied there. Eddie recalls aloud a time when bullies poured pudding in his pants and locked him in the boiler room. He was eventually freed by the janitor.
