Chapters 9 & 10 Summary
Tahiti: 1775. When Luce emerges from the next Announcer, she is balanced on the splintery wooden beam of a ship's mast. The boat is shipwrecked, and Luce and Bill make their way to the nearest island. In this life, Luce, whose past self is named Lulu is the daughter of a shipwrecked sailor and is raised on an abandoned island. Daniel is a rogue explorer running away from a band of pirates. Bill has brought Luce to this particular past life so she can see how deep Daniel's love truly is for Luce, that it isn't just the curse. In this life, Daniel hasn't taken Luce's love for granted, instead he has earned it by receiving a full body tribal tattoo and teaching Lulu how to weave a sail, and catching a season's worth of fish for Lulu's father.
