Chapters 7 & 8 Summary
Helston, England: 1854. Luce has been working at the estate for the past three days and still has not seen her past self. She is unsettled by the sheer amount of housework at the estate, and is frustrated that she has been left by Bill to complete it. As Luce is working in the kitchen one afternoon, she is startled by two young girls who come running through the kitchen, chasing each other in an elaborate game. The girls are past versions of Luce's childhood friends, Arriane and Annabelle. Following right behind them is a black servant, whom Luce immediately recognizes as a past-version of Roland. She confides in Roland that she is a Luce from the future, not the Helston Lucinda. Roland is taken aback, but not surprised. He warns Luce to be careful treading through her past.
