Chapters 5 & 6 Summary
Helston. England: 1854. Luce sprints through her Announcer at breakneck speed, cursing herself for leaving Daniel behind. Could she have elicited more information from him if she had just been patient? As she shouts at herself, she is shocked to hear a gruff voice answer her. Alarmed, she sprints faster and faster through the Announcer, toward the sound of a rushing waterfall, when suddenly, she smacks hard into something cold. The gruff voice tells her that she's on pause. The Announcer takes the shape of a dark cave. Trembling, Luce asks whom the voice belongs to, and why this voice is in her Announcer. The voice says that he's Bill, but he warns that most people are alarmed by his appearance. He transforms into various different shapes, including Daniel, which shocks Luce, before settling back on the ground as himself, a crusty, stony gargoyle...
