Prologue, Chapters 1 & 2 Summary

The Prologue follows Miss Sophia Bliss as she sits in the Kentucky Derby stands clearly searching for someone. She has met up with two of her friends, but is very wary about discussing their mission since there are spies everywhere. As the prologue progresses, it becomes clear that Miss Sophia is a Zhsmaelim elder with the hopes of returning the world to its prelapsarian state, or the moment before the Angels' fall from Heaven. There are references to the dramas of previous books in the series that have no direct impact on Passion's plot. Miss Sophia is annoyed and disturbed to see a series of blind angels - Outcasts - arrive at the race and sit next to her.
